We Offer

Free Membership for TCDC Residents

It is free for anyone living within the TCDC boundary to join the Thames, Mercury Bay or Tairua libraries. We make a nominal charge of $2.05 for the cost of the library card.

How to Join

You will need to bring photo ID (e.g driver's licence, passport or ID card) and a document confirming your home address. A letter such as a bank statement or power bill is fine.

Not a TCDC Resident or Ratepayer?

If you do not live, or pay rates in the TCDC area, you are welcome to join the library for a yearly subscription fee of $81.78.

If you are visiting the area you can get a Temporary (three month) Membership at a cost of $20.45. This will allow you to borrow 5 items at a time.

You can borrow

Books, Magazines, DVDs, CDs and talking books. All classes of membership (with the exception of Temporary Members) may take up to 20 items out at any one time.

Books and taking books are issues for three weeks, while media items such as CDs, DVDs and magazines are issued for one week.

Renewals

Items may be renewed for an additional issue period, providing they have not been requested by another borrower.

Rental items (things that cost to take out: i.e. magazines, CDs DVDs and Pay Fiction) will incur another rental charge upon renewal, and they cannot be renewed online. You'll need to phone us on 07 866 4776.

Laminating: A4 = $1.00. A3 = $2.00. A2 = $4.00.

Lost Items & Unpaid Accounts

Lost items are charged at replacement cost. If lost items are subsequently found, a refund can be given less a $10.00 administration fee. You need to bring in your payment reciept to obtain a refund. Unpaid accounts over 1 month old are sent to Debt Collection, and further charges will them apply.
